Login Problems

Do you receive an error message when you attempt to login? If YES, read the paragraph below, if NO read the subsequent paragraph. Please note that only first authors have access to the website.

YES
If you receive an error message of "Invalid username and password. Please try again" it's likely that you have mis-spelled either your email address or password. If you've already had confirmation of your password sent to you by email please try copying and pasting the password from the email.

NO
If you login but receive no error message and the text boxes in the login bar (email address and password) remain blank, it is likely that your browser's settings don't allow you to accept "cookies".
If you're using Internet Explorer 6 you should be able to change this within the Tools->Internet Options->Privacy section (IE5 users will find this in the Security section) by changing your security settings to e.g. Medium (or set it temporarily to "Accept All Cookies" within the "Advanced" menu), alternatively you can add the site (www.isacompss.com) as a trusted site.
If you're using Firefox please go to Tools->Options->Privacy and ensure that "Accept Cookies from All Sites" is checked or ensure that www.isacompss.com is defined as an exception where cookies are accepted.

Contracts

Please refer to the details in the Contracts section.

Can't open a file

There are a few reasons why you may not be able to open a file that another user has uploaded to the site. Most users will be creating Word documents (.doc) or documents that are compatible to open with Word such as Word Perfect (.wpd) or Rich Text Files (.rtf). If you can't open a file, first determine the file extension - which is usually the 3 (or 4) letters after a "." at the end of the filename (e.g. ".doc" is the file extension for Word documents), then try one of the following:

Microsoft Word 2007 - Compatibility Issues

Some authors or editors may be using Word 2007. The documents this version of Word creates by default (.docx files rather than .doc) are not compatible with older versions of Word. Rather than upgrade your version of Word, a free Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 is available which will allow you to open, edit, and save files using the new Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 file formats.

No Emails Received

If you are an author for an entry and have not received the introductory email containing your username and password, OR an email about a contract, or confirmation when either you or an editor upload new versions of your entry it may be because:

If you have corrected your email address or resolved the antispam problem please contact Technical Support to regenerate the introductory or contract emails if required.

Removing Author MetaData from Word Documents

For the first draft review, authors should remove any identifying information from their documents. Word documents store author metadata based on a user's name or network login. Authors should remove any potentially identity-revealing metadata, in addition to removing author names from the body text, before submitting a first draft:
